Yes, it is very cool. Nice that the clicked through map shows the names of many of the buildings on campus. Looks like it’s time to change out the Google Maps on the NSBDC.ORG site as well!

Thanks for the explanation Ben, I guess I did think that the blogs hosted here were somehow tied into the Be Network, but now I know better…..

Notifications? I posted a comment to Chuck’s blog post about the Business Survey.

The when he posted a reply, I did not get a notification, either here on the Be Network, or as an email. I have all my notifications set to ’Yes’ and so I expected to be notified when he later posted a comment on the same article. I’m I wrong, or is this not working?
Hi Bill, Thanks for the input about the non-reply issue. I’m going to fix this.
First off, your comment was on the a blog post and from an internal technical standpoint is not part of the network so your settings about getting notifications doesn’t come into play. The settings are on the blog itself which I will change.
Once you posted a comment on the blog I realized that the commenting portion needed some stylizing/programming because it was just a generic layout. I worked on it last Friday a bit but will continue today.
Thanks for the comment, they help us out a lot.

They are….sort of. I’ll show you exactly how it works some time if you’re interested.

What is the best way to send a message to more than one member, but not to a whole group. I tried to send a message this morning to Debra, Ben and Chuck, but it only went out to Debra.
I had composed the message, and then wanted to add recipients, and it seemed I needed to ’remember’ the members usernames? Is there a function we can turn on to select from a list of our associates?

In a post on his blog The Technium Kevin Kelly has proposed that an artist, musician, writer, or craftsman can make a living if they they can find and keep 1000 True Fans. The gist of 1,000 True Fans can be stated simply:
“A creator, such as an artist, musician, photographer, craftsperson, performer, animator, designer, videomaker, or [...]

Getting reports and concerns from many that the site loads much too slowly. It seems to load slowly here with my connection in Winnemucca. We need to figure out why this is happening. Could we get a more robust server service from Media Temple, or maybe we have too many things which must be found and updated from various sources as the page loads?
Very good point Bill. I agree it does tend to load slowly, but it actually seems like a connection issue the first time you visit the site’s homepage and then the subsequent pages load fine. Does it only occur the first time you load the homepage, or everytime? I’m going to test and look into it. Yes, it is an issue that needs to be fixed. Thanks for pointing it out.

Cool, send out a broadcast message to all members when you get it done, and lets see how that might work out.

Thanks for notifying me Bill. I’m going to work on putting up several blog themes right now so people will have mulitple choices for their layout and design

Hey Bill, Your blog is fixed. Also I understand your confusion with the way the network works. While being able to reply repetitively which is good, there is a bit of confusion b/c of the way people communicate. Forums and Groups have a text box that allows one to write directly onto that page or wall. When users here look at their profile the Activity tab displays everything they have done, but to see if someone has talked directly to them they have to look at the @mentions . Its working sort of as a mix between twitter and Facebook. I think it is much better than the previous version for communication especially on the Groups and Forums section however it requires some thought as to how it is working and thats not always good. Thanks for your input @bsims
