Am noticing that NSBDC events are not feeding into the events calendar. Some of the UNR events look OK but a lot of them are student events.
Also, on the partnership page, it says to contact Debra but there isn’t any contact info. -

Notifications? I posted a comment to Chuck’s blog post about the Business Survey.
http://unrbiz.org/industry-trends/little-optimism-found-in-unr-business-survey/#commenting
The when he posted a reply, I did not get a notification, either here on the Be Network, or as an email. I have all my notifications set to ’Yes’ and so I expected to be notified when he later posted a comment on the same article. I’m I wrong, or is this not working?
Hi Bill, Thanks for the input about the non-reply issue. I’m going to fix this.
First off, your comment was on the a blog post and from an internal technical standpoint is not part of the network so your settings about getting notifications doesn’t come into play. The settings are on the blog itself which I will change.
Once you posted a comment on the blog I realized that the commenting portion needed some stylizing/programming because it was just a generic layout. I worked on it last Friday a bit but will continue today.
Thanks for the comment, they help us out a lot.
Thanks for the explanation Ben, I guess I did think that the blogs hosted here were somehow tied into the Be Network, but now I know better…..
They are….sort of. I’ll show you exactly how it works some time if you’re interested.

It’s better and better all the time!
The social media ”people” are kind of wild, especially the guy with the multi-color hair. Is there any way to tone these photos down a bit, so it looks more like a group of business development people? … or am I just old? -

What is the best way to send a message to more than one member, but not to a whole group. I tried to send a message this morning to Debra, Ben and Chuck, but it only went out to Debra.
I had composed the message, and then wanted to add recipients, and it seemed I needed to ’remember’ the members usernames? Is there a function we can turn on to select from a list of our associates?

Just rechecking–it came up in both places a new comment and a reply.—also, the terminology in red was I did not have access to this activity.

I posted a reply to Brian’s response and it came up as a ”new comment”. I did see a red notice that I was not a member of this group.

I just posted a question on ”what I need”. It took me several times to realize you needed to respond to the code request(kept getting incorrect code reply) Do you think we need a very brief explanation similar to credit card verifications?

Here’s my $0.02 for today . . .
1. Why does unrbiz.org take so long to load? Are w losing visitors because of it?
2. We discussed adding a sentence or two to each blog category to help define what each one provides. I’m following up on this because a blog posted today by Kaiser showed up under both the Industry Trends and Economic Outlook categories. Thus, content is being duplicated.
3. Can we add an ”archive” link to the Economic Outlook category, like you have for the other categories? Kaiser is writing a lot of blogs which makes the previous ones ”disappear”.Thanks. Keep up the good work.
I agree with Brian about how ”slow” the site is to load. I’ve mentioned that before and if Debra’s 5-7 seconds rule is accurate… we are losing visitors. Is it going to get better?
Okay, The ”slow” initial load of the site has been an ongoing issue I agree. I had investigated it previously and thought it was fixed but it is not. This IS priority and we’ll get it fixed. The duplication of content via the different categories is something we should work on together. We’ll figure out what needs to go where and then make sure it doesn’t duplicated by assigning each post to a specific category. An Archive of the Economic Outlook would be easy, so yes.
Thanks for your $.02!

Ben – it seems like people would like to have the ability to post files / links to our status updates / activity on groups, etc – any chance this is possible?
Chuck, it is always possible to post a link. You would just need to write out the url like this http://www.unrbiz.org . If adding files and attachments to a group feed is something we need then I’ll look into it. I am hesitant because as things grow and users create their own groups I’m sure server resources could get eaten up pretty quickly, but it is a possibility.

I think those pictures of highlighted projects looks awkward layered on top of each other. Can’t you just show one picture and eliminate the pieces of the others?n
I believe that Ben is redoing the ”Flash” element which is the ”Highlighted Projects” in order to increase the loading speed. Benjamin, can you use an element that is less ”layered” this time?
Hi Debra and Sam, Yes, I have plans to redo that and my new plans are not layered and should easier to navigate. It should be updated in the next couple days. Thanks for the input!!!
I’ve changed the layered featured stories on the front screen. Let me know if you see anything awkward with it. I’ve tested on several machines and several browsers for compatability.
It is MUCH better now. Nice job!

When I subscribe to the RSS feed on the Business Managers Group it turns out the feed is for Site Wide Activity. It would be nice to have the feeds from the individual groups limited to postings just from that group. Thanks for your consideration.
Also thanks for the ”unrbiz home” change. The scrolling news on the home page is now displaying correctly on my Internet Explorer. Our energy seminar was yesterday so it would be good to pull that news item down. We will have another one April 15, but the press release isn’t out yet. Hopefully you can help promote that one too.
Have a great weekend everybody!
You too Kevin. Thanks for the heads-up on the RSS feed.
Thanks for the input Kevin and the suggestions with news items and promotion of the energy seminar.
Regarding the RSS feed I am trying to figure out a solution with that. Because the group is set to ”private” we purposefully don’t have an RSS feed for the group. Even though the button is not available to be clicked unless you are member of the group there are ways people can ”auto-discover” feeds on a site and I’d hate for someone to gain access to everything being said on a private group feed without being a member to it. So I might just remove the link all together. I may also put a note somewhere stating that private groups do not have RSS feeds because of privacy.
